"ALG hockey has helped me to better understand what I need to do each day to achieve both my long-term and short-term goals. ALG hockey has improved my time management dramatically and has prepared me for life as a collegiate student-athlete." ~ USHL Captain and UW Madison Commit
GOALS Program Vision
At ALG Hockey, we believe staying mentally strong and academically engaged while playing junior hockey is critical for a successful transition to, and performance in, college. The GOALS program offers a suite of services that support players in mental performance, leadership and academic engagement throughout their junior hockey journey.
Our vision is that every player who goes through the GOALS program develops the skills necessary to succeed in a college classroom, has the resilience, confidence and strategies to perform at their highest level, is ready to make an immediate impact as a leader on their team, and is admitted to a college that aligns with their hockey and academic goals.
“ALG Hockey has really helped me further my development and confidence with communication. From learning to talk with teammates in the right ways, to talking with scouts and coaches, Jo has taught me many ways to have real genuine conversations that I can get the most out of. First impressions are probably the most important part of the recruiting process and learning to communicate and give a great first impression can put you ahead of the competition from the get-go. I am very appreciative of Jo and all ALG Hockey has done, and continues to do, for me.” ~ player at US Air Force Academy

“Throughout my hockey career, I've dealt with a lot of stress, especially as a goalie aging out of juniors. A majority of this stress came from the need to become a full-time student to maintain D1 college eligibility. The uniqueness of my situation made it extremely difficult to find the right answers, but Jo was able to step right in and help guide me to fit all the criteria within the 21yo rule and keep me eligible for college hockey. Jo Hopp and ALG Hockey has helped me tremendously, and if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be able to reach the next step in my hockey career” ~ player at Sacred Heart University (previous NAHL player)
